v Personal Care/Food Panty – Personal care items will be collected Oct 28th, 2006 for St. Benedict’s Mission. Please pass out paper bags and lists of items at all Masses the weekend of Oct 21st, 2006.
v Coffee project – No report.
v Homeless Meals – No Report.
v St. Theresa House – All are invited to do yard work and trimming bushes at St. Theresa House on October 28th, 2006 “Make A Difference Day”. The St. Theresa CRHP groups will include St. Theresa House in their “Make a Difference Day” project as well. CRHP will provide a chili supper following the service projects for all participating CRHP families and the service project families. The St Theresa House Committee continues to work on options for the current residents as the ready themselves for more permanent housing.
v DMARC News – The Fall Delegate Assemble will be held on Oct 19th, 2006 at the First Baptist Church @ 7 PM. Food donations will be collected on “Make A Difference Day” Oct 28th. Individuals/small groups/families are needed to work 2 hour shifts.
v Catholic Charities – “No Room At the Inn” will be held Dec 3rd, 2006. This project helps to promote awareness of homelessness. Volunteers are needed.
v Angel Tree – Place on the November meeting agenda.
v Work of Human Hands – No Report.
v AMOS – John McMichael and Father Larry informed us of the “AMOS Fall Accountability Session” to be held Sunday, October 22nd, 3 PM at the Polk Co. Convention Complex. It was decided to hold “House Meetings” after the Sunday morning Masses @ St Theresa prior to this event so that needs could be brought to the larger community.
Other News and Volunteer Opportunities
v Ministry Fair/Parish Dinner – About 200 meals were served. Anita made wonderful pamphlets telling of Social Concern’s programs. Donna reported that every display was well done. Thanks to all who volunteered.
Anne reported on the Parish Needs Survey. Good comments were received about the importance of the work done by the Social Concerns Committee.
v Coffee and Donut Instructions – Barb Woods passed along the following:
-Arrive at 7 AM to make 100 cups of coffee.
-Use 1 bag of the Just Faith Coffee for 100 cups.
-Garbage needs to be taken to the N. door dumpster.
-Leftovers need to be taken home, donated to Kavanaugh House on 56th Street
or elsewhere. Don’t leave them!!!
-Write a note to Barb letting her know if supplies are needed & if there was a
shortage/excess of juice/donuts. Place the note with the money.
v Reggie’s Night out – is Nov. 10th Please call John Gaffney if interested in helping to promote the awareness of homelessness in our community.
v “An Inconvenient Truth” – St Francis of Assisi is showing the documentary about global warming and climate change Oct 19th @ 7 PM and Oct 22@ at 6:30 PM
v Ecumenical Service – The Annual Lutheran/Catholic Service of Unity is on Oct 28th at St James Lutheran Church, 5665 Merle Hay Rd.

v Morning of Reflection – Plans are in the works for morning of prayer and faith sharing for the committee on November 18th, 2006.
v Salvation Army – Bob will again organize St Theresa’s groups to do bell ringing in 2 hour shifts at various stores in Des Moines.
