New Leadership Roles:
A very heartfelt thank you goes to Rick Chabot, Judy Kendzora and Joan Ferguson for answering our prayers and God’s Call. Rick will replace Anne as our fearless leader! Judy will replace Barb as treasurer and Joan will replace Mary as secretary.
St Theresa House:
The Krah family is very interested in purchasing a house at on 26th Street in DM. The asking price is $137,000. An application for a forgivable loan through NFC will be turned in tomorrow. The family would like to close by 7/15/07 and move out by August 1st. Please keep the Krah family in your prayers. At St. Theresa House a new window pane is needed for the front door.
Coffee Project:
The new kiosk for coffee is beautiful. We will continue to have sellers for coffee on the last weekend of the month. Coffee will also be available for self serve. Instructions are posted at the kiosk.
“Encyclical” Project:
The subcommittee plans to break down the encyclical into themes for the fall celebration. John Gaffney had very good ideas on youth involvement. Planning will continue.
Just Faith:
Anita graduated from this 9 month program on Social Justice and Catholic Social Teaching. This is a great learning experience. Please call Celeste or Anita if interested. There will be an informational meeting and sign-up Sunday closer to the fall session.
AMOS:
The legislation for undocumented drivers did not pass. John thanked us for helping with the postcard campaign. The annual fund raiser “Conversations on Public life” will be June 3rd. Their proposed budget is $150,000 for this next year.
DMARC News:
Awards Luncheon/May 23rd: St Theresa will be recognized this year. John Michael will plan on attending. We have another ticket for anyone interested. This year’s event is being held at the Airport Holiday Inn.
Food Pantry nights at the Ball Park are May 14th, June 11th and June 25th.
Bring 3 food items in exchange for 1 general admission tickets.
Torture Awareness:
June is Torture Awareness Month. Last year we gave away white ribbons and prayer cards. We are looking for ideas for this year. Joan and Mary will look at the Web site. Might Kathy Swift be interested in giving her presentation on the holocaust? Mary and Joan will look at the site www.tassc.org for ideas.
DMACSAC:
The next meeting will be May 22nd form 7-9 PM at St Catherine of Siena.
Bob Mc Cahill will be the guest speaker. He is a Maryknoll priest working in
Bangladesh. He is the author of Dialogue
of Life: A Christian Among Allah’s Poor.
Other News:
Please keep CeCe in your prayers for her upcoming surgery. W will be having a healing litany for her after the 11:30 Mass on Sunday.
St Luke’s Episcopel Church has started up an Angel Food Ministry. This is similar to the SHARE Food Program.
Celeste will now be in charge of coordinating the homeless meal servers.
