v     Standing Disbursements - $850.00

Committee Reports

      Standing Committees

v     Personal Care – We received less items but more $ donations than usual.  Food Pantry – Kids filled the manger in Church with food items.  900 items and $2000.00 were collected.

 

v     Coffee Project - No Report

 

v     Homeless Meals :

     St Joseph Shelter – We will be providing the meals for about 25

     adults and children on the 4th & 5th Fridays of the month.  Call Lindsey

     to volunteer.

 

 

     Churches United (Central IA. Shelter & Services Meal) -

          Anita asked for more volunteers for calling food preparers. 

          Joanne Lenox & Kathy Swift offered.  Anita will continue

     to organize menus etc.

 

v     St Theresa House - The Committee continues to work with the Krah family as they move toward finding permanent housing.

 

v     DMACSAC News -  No report

 

v     Catholic Charities – No Report

 

v     Angel Tree – Report tabled until next month.

 

v     Work of Human Hands – Booth sales were good at Bazaar in Dec.

Only a few items were left.  As always the chocolate was a hit.

 

v     AMOS- John will be attending the leader meeting Jan 22nd in Huxley.

Some of the items to be discussed are immigration, after school care

and public school funding for unfinished repairs and construction.

 

      Other News and Volunteer Opportunities

v     Time and Talent Survey – There was a good response for SC.  We will need to contact everyone and add them to the email list.

 

v     Amanda the Panda Support Group Meal – We have been asked to provide meals for this grief support group which is held Tuesday evenings at 6 PM through Feb 27th.  A very simple meal for 25 to 30 people is needed.

 

v     Sweat Suit Collection – We collected 20 pairs of sweats and 20 slipper socks at the SC Christmas Pot Luck in Dec.  Thanks to all for the good company, good food and your generosity.   An extra thanks to Anne and Joe for hosting.

 

 

v     Salvation Army – We raised $1,233.00 on the 2 Saturdays in December that we volunteered to bell ring.  The grand total for the kettle collection was $600,000.  Thank you to those withstood cold weather, a bad bell and an over stuffed bucket. 

 

v     Food Bank – Volunteers are needed in the warehouse at E. 17th & Guthrie to sort and box food items.

 

v     Website – Thanks to Anita, Social Concerns information can now be found on the St Theresa Web site.

 

v     IA. Institute for Social Action – Anne will be attending this conference Jan 14th and 15th.  Please call Anne if you are interested in attending for all or part.

 

v     DMARC News – January Thaw will be held again at Dowling.  This is a wonderful opportunity to enhance your knowledge of faith related topics.  Please consider attending. 

     DMARC is also in need of a new Director.  If anyone feels up to the 

          challenge please gives them a call.
