December 5  Fundraising Reception for St. Joseph Emergency Family Shelter on Fri., Dec. 4 from 5-8 p.m.  For a minimum donation of $38 per person (the cost of one night’s stay at St. Joseph Shelter) guests can preview the exhibition of 300 nativities, enjoy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails and hear words from Bishop Richard Pates all in support of Polk counties only emergency family shelter that keeps the entire family unit together. December 5/6-Catholic Relief Services at the St. Theresa Bazaar, 9-3:30pm, Parish Hall and after all Sunday morning masses.  The best gift to give for Christmas is a handcrafted fair trade item that is a gift to the maker and the user.  Fair trade coffee, tea  chocolate, soups, olive oil also make wonderful Christmas gifts, stocking stuffers or grab bag gifts.

December 5/6-Angel Tree Tag Distribution-All Masses

 

December 6- “No Room at the Inn” Holiday Open House, Catholic Pastoral Center, 1-5pm, features an exhibition of unique and traditional nativities will be on display. The event is great for all ages and serves as a reminder that there is often no room at homeless shelters like St. Joseph Emergency Family Shelter. Join Bishop Richard Pates at 2pm and Bishop Joseph Charron at 3:30pm as they read the Christmas story, view more than 300 nativities, a live nativity and listen to music from local choirs. Admission is a gift of a personal care item or donation to help families in need. This year’s choirs include: the Ankeny Community Chorus, St. Francis Children's Choir, St. Augustin’s Children's Choir, Holy Trinity Children's Choir, Catholic Youth Choir of Central Iowa, and Spanish Themes from Our Lady of the Americas.
