July 8- Churches United Shelter Meal, Social Concerns provides
the July meal to give the regular cooks a month off. Intake at the School kitchen 3-6pm.
July 8-Step Up to the Plate Catholic Charities Night at Iowa
Cubs. Update- June 13 ticket

Up to the Plate: Catholic Charities Night at the Iowa Cubs" planned for
Friday June 13 at Principal Park has been postponed until July 8 due to
wide-spread flooding in Des Moines. All “Step Up to the Plate” activities will
be held on July 8, including the family picnic, MVP Dinner and silent auction.
Bishop Joseph Charron, retired Bishop of Des Moines, will be in attendance at
the game, including the MVP Dinner held on the Cub Club Veranda before the
game. Bishop Charron will also help publicly honor this year's recipients of
the Bishop Charron Caritas Awards on the field before the first

Rule the World--The Coming Battle Over the Global Economy, will speak on
Sunday, July 20, at 2:00pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2926 Beaver Ave.,
Des Moines. The talk is sponsored by Catholic Peace Ministry, the
American Friends Service Committee and the Des Moines Catholic Worker.
