June 13-Step Up to the Plate Catholic Charities Night at Iowa
Cubs. Join Mercy Medical Center &
the Iowa Cubs in helping thousands of Central Iowans struggling to provide
food, clothing and shelter for their families. All proceeds from Catholic
Charities Night at the Iowa Cubs will go to support Catholic Charities
program's that offer help and hope to those in need. Join in our efforts by

June 21/22-Food Pantry Collection Weekend, all Masses
June 21-Des Moines Area Religious Council, Iowa Homeless Youth
Night at Iowa Cubs. Go to Fleur HyVee
or Ankeny HyVee from 10am to 10m to get a free ticket to the game in exchange
for a donation of personal hygiene items (valued at $3 or more). Most needed items are soap, toothpaste,
deodorant, shampoo, toilet paper, diapers/wipes and feminine hygiene
items. Organize a personal care
collection by your Youth Group to get up to 10 free tickets. Please call Susie Paloma at 256-1478 for more

June 26-United Nations International Day in Support of Torture
Victims. During the month of June, St.
Theresa Social Concerns Peace & Justice Committee will be providing
opportunities to parishioners to increase awareness of how torture is used in
the world today. Bulletin articles,
prayer cards, petitions and posters will be displayed throughout the month of
June.
June 27-St. Joseph’s Shelter Meal 5:30pm
June 27-Des Moines Area JustFaith Cookout for Catholic Worker
House at 6pm. All are welcome to stay
for Mass at 7:30. We will be serving
100—burgers, veggie burgers, salads, deviled eggs, fruit salad, fresh fruit,
milk, lemonade, cookies. Please call

June 28/29-24 hour solidarity vigil with The Torture Abolition and
Survivors Support Coalition (TASSC) http://www.witnesstorture.org/ will hold
its 11th annual 24 hour vigil outside the White House starting 7am June 28th to
7am June 29th. A group in Des Moines
will hold a 24 hour solidarity vigil with TASSC outside the Federal Courthouse
in Des Moines, Ia. Come stand in
solidarity with survivors of torture and speak out against the unspeakable.
Persons and groups are encouraged to sign up for time blocks. Contact Kirk
