St. Theresa Faith Formation for Adults |
|
Ongoing faith formation does not end at
confirmation or graduation but continues until one’s death. It is essential to
accomplish the mission of calling and equipping all Christians of every age and
stage of life: 1) to fulfill their
baptismal call to holiness in family, Church, and Society, and 2) to evangelize
and transform the world into a more caring and just society. “Our Hearts Were
Burning Within Us” A Pastoral Plan for Adult Faith Formation in the United
States
Faith formation with adults equips adults
to be people who build God’s kingdom.
It joins faith and life helping adults in practical ways to live their
daily lives in light of the Gospel. As
disciples of Christ, we need to deal with challenges and circumstances in the
church and society. Since the world
continually changes, we, too, must learn new ways to meet those changes. We need to challenge ourselves to grow in
our faith, in our relationship with God, in our family relationships, and in
our faith community.

Social Concerns:
In fidelity to Christ’s commandment that we “love our neighbor as our self” and in keeping with the social teachings of the church, lifelong faith formation calls us to learn about our faith commitment to human life and dignity. Learning can come through formation programs like Just Faith, which gives a strong foundation in Catholic Social Teaching. People also learn about Catholic Social Teaching when they have an opportunity to interact with others or learn about how others live. St. Theresa values and provides these formation opportunities that builds relationships of charity and justice. Direct service to the poor and marginalized brings us in contact with people who give us new insights and deeper sensitivity to injustices in our community and the world. Below are a few examples of charity and justice opportunities that St. Theresa offers to parishioners wanting to learn and grow in their faith commitment:
Providing
meals for Churches United or St. Joseph Shelter
St.

Support
St. Theresa Fair Trade Coffee, Tea and Chocolate Project
