ACCEPTABLE USE - The purpose of the
network making up the Internet is to support research and education in and
among academic institutions by providing access to resources and the
opportunity for collaborative work. The use of your account must be in
support of education and research consistent with the educational
objectives of St. Theresa School. Transmission of any material in
violation of any national or state regulation is prohibited. This
includes, but is not limited to the following: copyrighted material,
threatening or obscene material, or material protected by trade secrets.
Using your Internet account to play games is not an acceptable use

PRIVILEGES - The use of the Internet
is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use may result in a
cancellation of those privileges. Any student whose Internet use violates
provisions contained in the Student Handbook may, in addition to losing
his / her privilege to use the Internet be subject to discipline up to and
including suspension or expulsion from school.

ADHERENCE TO INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
LAWS - Use of the system to copy, use or distribute software,
publications, or other data and intellectual materials in violation of
copyright, trademark, patent or other intellectual property laws is
strictly prohibited. Students are advised that they can be held personally
liable should they violate state or federal laws in the regard.

NETWORK ETIQUETTE - Users are expected
to abide by the generally accepted rules of network etiquette. These
include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Be polite. Do not write or send abusive messages or pictures to
others.
- Use appropriate language. Do not swear, use vulgarities or any
other inappropriate language.
- Do not reveal personal addresses or phone numbers (yours or anyone
else's).
- Not that electronic mail is not guaranteed to be private. People
who operate the system do have access to all mail. Messages related to or
in support of illegal activities may be reported to the authorities.
- Do not use the network in such a way that you would disrupt the
use of the network by other users.
- Do not trespass or alter others' folders, work or files.
- Do not access any service via electronic transmission that incurs
any cost. Any cost incurred though violation of this expectation will be
charged to the student responsible.
- Attempting to log into the system as any other user may result in
cancellation of user privileges. Any user identified as a security risk or
having a history of problems with other computer systems may be denied
access to the Internet.
- Users shall not intentionally download any text file or picture or
engage in any conference that includes material which is obscene,
libelous, indecent, vulgar, profane, lewd, discriminatory or racist,
constitute insulting or fighting words, the very expression of which
injuries or harasses others.
