Internet Agreement

Internet access is available to all students at St. Theresa School. We believe the Internet offers vast, diverse and unique resources to both students and educators. Our goal in providing this service is to promote educational excellence in our school through the access of technological resources.

The Internet is an electronic highway connecting thousands of computers all over the world and millions of individual subscribers. Users have access to

-  Electronic mail (Email) communication with people all over the world;
-  Information and news from research institutions, such as NASA, as well as the opportunity to correspond with scientists and other researchers from these institutions;
-  Public domain software and shareware of all types;
-  Discussion on an endless range of topics;
-  Access to many university library catalogs, the Library of Congress, ERIC and other databases;
-  Data, information and software that can be downloaded.

With access to computers and people all over the world comes the availability of material that may not be considered to be of educational value in the context of the K-8 setting. St. Theresa School has attempted to restrict addresses to controversial materials. However, on a global network, it is impossible to control all materials and the access to them. An industrious user may discover information that could be considered controversial and/or offensive. We firmly believe that the valuable information and interaction available on this world wide network far outweigh the possibility that users may procure material that is not consistent with the educational goals of ST. Theresa School.

Internet access is coordinated through a complex association of government agencies with regional and state networks. In addition, the smooth operation of the network relies upon the proper conduct fo the users, who must adhere to strict responsibilities you are about to acquire. In general, this requires ethical and legal utilization of the network resources.

If A SAINT THERESA SCHOOL USER VIOLATES ANY OF THESE PROVISIONS, HIS/HER ACCOUNT MAY BE TERMINATED AND FUTURE ACCESS MAY BE DENIED.
