SPORTS
Basketball, Track, Softball and Volleyball
Available to St. Theresa students in 5th through 8th grades
band
Open to students beginning in
the 4th
–
8th grade. Practices are held twice a week. Individual lessons are taught
once a week.
chorus
St. Theresa's offers
choral programs for both the 7th grade and 8th
grade. Rehearsals are scheduled on Friday during the school day. They
perform in several concerts during the year and at other occasions as they
arise.
DRAMA
Middle
school students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade perform in a play held each
February at Dowling High School.
SPEECH & DEBATE
Offered to STS students in the
6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Participants perform each spring at
Dowling High School against other parochial schools in the Des
Moines area.
SCIENCE FAIR/IMAGINATION
FAIR
Held each spring, the
Imagination Fair is offered to St. Theresa students from Kindergarten
through eighth grade.
MOCK TRIAL
Available to 6th to 8th
graders. After working with attorneys, the students compete at Drake
University every fall.
SPELLING BEE
The Spelling Bee is held
each November and is open to students in grades 2 through
8.
National Geographic spelling
bee
Open to all St. Theresa
Middle School students.
CHESS CLUB
In
it's tenth year, under the guidance of Mrs. Landolt, the Chess Club is
available to students in the second
through fifth grades. The students meet every Thursday at 7:45 in the morning where
they enjoy learning and challenging each other to chess matches.
SCOUTS
Cub Scouts,
Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts
Available to students in
Kindergarten through eighth grade.
ALTAR SERVERS
Students in grades 5 through
8 receive
training from Fr. Larry to become Altar Servers at St. Theresa Church.
